The change of Halak to Lalime is not enough to say that those acquisitions wouldn't improve us.
But indeed, if we lose Halak, one would imagine we'd be gaining an asset somewhere else, as he'd be moved via trade. And Lalime is far from the first goalie I'd target as a back-up on the UFA market. Hedberg please.

My mistake, I didn't see Hossa. Still, I don't want him and even if we can afford him now, we need to think that our good young players will soon ask for the big bucks.
I talked in my other post about the possibility of signing Brunnstrom or Jagr. I would like to add the possibility of trading for Cammaleri. The Kings are apparently high on O'Byrne so I would put him in a package with Grabovski and a pick. That said, with O'Byrne gone, we would need another D. If he comes to a reasonable price, I wouldn't mind to get Hainsey back. It would leave us with the choice between Stillman and Brunette since with Cammy and Hainsey, Rolston could be too expansive.
Another lineup possibility (for me):
Higgins-Cammaleri-Kovalev
SKostitsyn-Plekanec-AKostitsyn
Stillman/Brunette-Koivu-Latendresse
Bégin/Chipchura/Lapierre/Kostopoulos
*D'Agostini
Markov-Komisarek
Hamrlik-Hainsey
Bouillon-Gorges
*Brisebois or UFA
Price
Halak
