Contesting will only delay things but the results may be the same. I know because i contested a seatbelt ticket a few years ago and it was a complete waste of time since i lost my cause. I thought that i had excellent counter arguments but in the end it was an EPIC FAIL.
My advice would be to just pay it and move on.
