Listen, I don't want to bring back essentially the same team next year. Our team this year was, for the most part, dysfunctional even when we were playing well. Add onto that a year older Jagr, Straka and Shanahan and I think it's gonna be a problem. I don't want Roszival back at $6m, which is probably what he's going to get on the open market.
Bring Jagr back if he asks 4m on a 1 year deal. It isn't likely to happen, but you never know.
Add a mid-level 2nd line scorer a la Ryder. Add a mid level D a la Liles.
Do nothing else.
Yes, we take a step backwards for a year. I still think our team D will get us into the playoffs. It's all in prep for a better UFA class and one more year for our top prospects to develop.
Oh, and ask around for young-ish snipers that may be on the trading block like Kovalchuk, Gaborik or Nash... as has been talked about. See what the package would be to get one. If it makes sense, do it but let's not be over-eager.
