I think Mcphee really like's Malkin. I think he would have been just as happy getting the #2 pick in the draft and grabbing him.

I don't think it is an issue if Mcphee is willing to deal the pick and move back one spot. I think the issue are the Pens willing to deal up for the #1 pick, and I think the anwer is NO.

There is no way that the Pens trade Whitney and Malkin for Ovechkin, that would just be stupid.

I don't think a deal that would swap picks in the 2004 draft for the option of swapping picks in the 2005 draft isn't a bad idea. But what if the Pens don't get the #1 pick next year. Personally I don't think they will, I think they are going to be a better team than the Caps next year. So a deal like that doesn't really make sence for the Caps.

If I was the GM of the Pens I wouldn't even consider moving up to #1. I think Malkin is going to be a great player. He may not be as great offensivly as Ovechkin, but I think he will be a better 2-way player than Ovechkin is.
