I honestly don't know but my supposition is because he's the captain and he has a tremendous chance of winning it all by scoring on the penalty. How great will that be for Chelsea fans if Terry scores on the penalty to make Chelsea CL champions over Manchester United? That would be in your memories for ever right? Nonetheless, he was unlucky to lose his footing on the penalty shot. It was really unfortunate...

Anelka was available for the 5th spot... I watched the game with friends at home and when Drogba got his red card, I told them: "I have a feeling that he's going to go through the same thing as Zidane went through vs Italy at the last WC"... OK, Drogba is not retiring from football but he might have played his last game at Chelsea.
