Sure you can. Tanguay got 5.25, but he had been putting up top line points for quite a while. And there's a chance that he doesn't repeat it, which we all know as the sophomore jinx, right? If he came back and did it again, then yes, he would be more valuable. What would make more sense? Giving a 5.5 million dollar contract to a guy with one 80 point season under his belt, or 6 million to a guy with two 80 point seasons under his belt? I take the second option 9 times out of 10, with the other 1 being reserved for players like Malkin, Ovechkin, and Crosby.
