If you sign Redden to that sort of contract, it's going to be a very tight fit. Your 3rd pairing is probably going to be Backman - Potter with Struds as a 7th if you want to make the improvements on offense as well. Or, you'll have to be willing to spend another 2 years without a sniper for Gomez, assuming Jagr comes back.

Plus, some of our cheap young talent isn't exactly cheap. Korpikoski makes over a mil, Prucha makes 1.6, Dawes is due for a raise. That might look cheap, but it adds up quickly.
