That is ludicrous. Why would every team have to tank the season? You can't dump your whole roster. The front office will truly earn their salary reworking current deals and weighing the value of players. Do you think St. Louis is any better off?

The answer is if you have a skilled prospect that can help your team replace a high paid vet (LeClair, Amonte). If you have a vet that is still productive (Recchi) try to rework his deal or resign him to sane money.

I'm not saying I want they Flyers to be a surprise team, I'm saying those teams have already found the right formula pre-CBA and Hitch and Clarke need to acknowledge that as they make decisions.
