I'm not sure what you mean, he played on a shutdown line in SJ,that was effective.He was used on our checking line here,whether with,Juneau,Dackell,Kilger,Begin,Ward or whoever was on that line at the time,but his role was the same. How was he used differently ? No team can play him on exactly the same line. Thornton is a big up and down player, who is tough, but doesn't have great vision,but excels in the leadforechecker role he had on that line. Ricci is a clever determined type, who lacks a bit of speed, but is clearly a better checking ctr. than the 2 the Habs used this year. They didn't try and force Sundstrom to be a scorer, his role is what it always has been, 3rd man high, trapping and forcing turnovers.
