I think Malone is underrated in this thread. He was a good player on a terrible Pittsburgh team long before Malkin or Crosby were there. He's a complete player. He can hit, fight, play special teams and play on a scoring line. The so-called Malkin effect is brought up all the time, but chemistry works two ways. His play helped Malkin find the open ice that in turn helped him find scoring opportunities.

Anyway, I'm not convinced that he's worth the 4.5 - 5 million he's liable to get in a bidding war, but I think he's exactly the kind of player that would fit in Montreal. A well-rounded, physical 20 goal scorer in his prime who can fight if the need arises. It's about much more than stats and Malkin. It's about the role he would fill that would let other players be more comfortable in theirs.
