no offense but anyone that thinks signing malone would be a bad move is out of their minds and needs to buy a clue. i don't give a crap what he might have done that 'hurt your feelings' when pittsburgh mopped the ice with us in the playoffs...yeah he'll be overpaid but everyone is overpaid...

we need top 6 forwards...malone is a top 6 forward

we need guys that can score...malone is capable of netting 25-30+

we BADLY need some size on the wings...malone is 6'4 224

we need grit up front...malone had 138 hits and 9 fighting majors

we need PKers to replace straka, shanny, avery...malone fills penalties

we need a guy who will stand in front of the net on the pp...yep malone does that too

we have a ton of openings on our forward lines and don't know where everyone will fit...well malone can play all 3 forward positions, he good enough offensively to play on the #1 line and good enough defensively to be on the checking unit.

like him or hate him, ryan malone is a PERFECT fit for this team and fills more needs than ANY other forward available except hossa...is he the greatest player? no and yeah he'll be overpaid cause the free agent class blows and he's the 2nd best forward out there. but he still fills more needs then any other option.
