Actually, we only have $7M in cap space. He's just not including the bonuses in his 'cap space' figure but they count against the cap from day 1 until the player(s) prove they can no longer attain the bonuses.

For example, Mark Stuart had a bonus in his rookie deal for games played, once he spent enough games in the minors, they could call him up without his bonus counting against the cap.

So the B's true cap space number according to his AAV salaries is $7,055,001.
(And Wideman & Nokia will lower our cap space by another ~ $4M.)
