It's not that I wasn't crying, but I distinctly remember begging it to be Tortarella and not Blow. From the start, I (and most others) knew that Ron Low was a mistake. Given the choices that we were presented (Tortarella or Low), yes I was crying.
I only compared the others to McGill in that at one time or another, someone took a chance on these guys.
What have we been crying for as a coach? Disciplinarian? Check for McGill. Not afraid to bench his top players? Check for McGill. Plays a real system that works in todays NHL? Check for McGill. Runs a tight ship as a coach? Check for McGill. A coach who is very good with young players? Check for McGill.
McGill has not only won at every coaching level as Edge points out. But he has WON at every level, if you get my drift. He does not put up with any crap. I agree with Edge's sentiment when he essentially says the old axiom, "Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it". And believe me, I realize that Sather refuses to learn from history. But enough is enough.
Now, as I have stated, I LOVE Q. And for the longest time, he was my #1 choice. But I got to be honest when I say that if this is going to be a new Rangers, let's have a new coach. Let's not allow the next Crawford or Hartley or even Laviolette to go to another team.
