In the case of the Kings and Ducks I don't think the Euro trip had much of an impact on their starts. The Ducks were without Niedermayer and Selanne, two of their best players, plus they just won the cup. So they were probably going to start slow no matter what.
And the Kings just sucked last year. They tied for the fewest amount of points in the league so a streak of 5 losses in 6 games isn't abnormal.
As for the Giants they had a bye the next week. They did lose their next game, but it was 2 weeks after they got back from London and it was against a better team at the time, Dallas. So I can't say going to London hurt the Giants, they could have played in Miami and still lose the same way 2 weeks later.
So basically I disagree with the original poster, except for the part about it sucking for the fans and players. But I guess it's good for the owners and the league, so we all have to deal with it.
