I really don't see a "third line" as per say.

I see three offensive lines that can be the 1st, 2nd or 3rd line on any given night.

I also see Gainey & Carbo building a team where any of the top 9, 10 or 11 forwards can rolled from one line to the next.

I expect at any given time throughout a game we wilk see Andi Kostitsyn play on lines with both Kovalev & Plekanec, then on another shift be out with Sergei & c Chipchura. We could very well see Tanguay bouncing back & forth between the Plekanec line & the Koivu during games.


I believe this team is being for versatility thus keeping the opponents from shutting down anyone group of three players during any given game.
