Do not worry e.k., nikulin is not going back to russia (for now). I worry, however, that he might not be able to take a full season in bingo without losing his drive, and with the way sens prospect depth is going, thats a definate possibility (although, with injuries, not probable).
I'm with Keogh and Fuhr here in that there seems to be a fundemental communication problem with this team. I know we discussed this around this time last year reading nik's blog, but something just seems wrong. Our prospects should be given every possible boost on their way to the NHL, and if some are confused about what they are supposed to be doing, or why they are doing it, there's a problem.
Finally, a comment on nikulin himself. He seems to be in a very bad place right now. Not quite at an NHL level, not overperforming in the AHL, but still aspiring for an NHL job. Obviously, we will know more once the season gets under way, but unless something changes with that picture, i dont see how he will be a member of our organization a year from now. He's allready making 800k, and we're not gonna pay him 1M to sit in the minors. He's not going to take a marginal raise just to sit in the minors. Either we are going to trade him, or he will ask for a trade to a less competitive team, as it is clear he doesnt want to go play in Russia. I really dont think there's any way around this other than nikulin simply 'getting better'.
Thanks for the translation ThirtyFive
