Another thing is that even if you don't play all the game , you are there for the training , you learn the system , you make contact with the players , the staff , so that you finally learn a lot of stuff even when you are not playing .
Nothing compares to actually playing and being called uppon to take things in hand.

The Habs were smart enough to do it with Andrei Kostitsyn. It was usueless having him up and playing him 3 shifts a game. He spent the required time in the minors and now he's matured, learned decision making skills and how to handle being the go to guy in the minors. The should have done the same with Lats.
