Compared to 27 points and 70 PIMs in 60 games in Providence, Bitz seems to play a tougher game and theoretically is a step away in the AHL, so a pivotal year for him in Providence. We'll see.

bitz came a long way from cornell to his first rookie camp to last year in providence. the coaches were impressed with his improvement from start to finish, but in reality, i'm not sure he's a guy who'll see the light of day in the NHL. he's buried on the depth chart here, and each year a few new top rated bodies come in that will leapfrog him. i think his best chance is to start scrapping on a semi-regular basis and use that frame to his advantage. look at a guy like aaron voros - not a good fighter at all, but a big guy who's willing and has decent enough skill to hang at the NHL level.
