you are right during the season, however that came from mostly 1 player, higgins, higgins could of had a 40 goal season easily if he wanst hitting the post all night, as for goalies, it was a problem but thats also because it wasnt as extreme as LA but we had a minor musical chair thing going on

its not about being against not making the team better, who are we gonna get ? gaborik and we takin a chance that he fits in, our team is excellent the way it is, with more firepower there wont be enough ice time for everybody for us to have our full potential, right now we have 2 nice offensive lines, saku's line that can play o and d and a nice rough checking line, the ice is gonna be way more open for everybody this year

and its not about hoarding prospects, its about that in the salary cap era you have to be able to use young players at low cost so you can keep some stars, and not every prospect works out, id rather have 5 good prospects hoping that at least 2 become 100% nhl material then put our money on 2 prospects that they both bust and then were back to the late 90's habs again

edit: also last i checked free agents werent exactly lineing up for montreal, so playing the prospect game is better way to find new players
