Don Luce about Luca Sbisa,
Courier Post, 07/25/08
"Too many players get to the NHL because of their physical abilities, but mentally they're not strong enough to deal with the demands," Luce said.
"They go down to the minors, they lose confidence and the hole they're in is deeper than they one they started with.
"Sbisa has the potential to step in quickly," Luce said, "but realistically, he'll need two years pro before he's ready. That doesn't mean it's going to take two years; it might take one. But for him I'd say two years. He's got a good sense of the game and that should come along with time."
If you add what Stevens says about Downie and Giroux all the time, the talk about being mentally ready to play a game every second day and the difference between juniors, minors and the NHL, you know that Sbisa won't make the team this season, not even for a nine game stint. They won't destroy his confidence.
