You seem to be forgetting a pretty glaring detail; Huet wasn't the #1 goalie on our team anymore. Price was, and he forced Gainey's hand. Fact is, Huet was playing terrible and even PRIOR to the trade deadline it was pretty evident that Price was our #1 goalie.

Honestly, management didn't feel confident in Huet anymore, and neither did the fans. If you want to argue some kind of point, at least get your facts straight.
Like I said in my previous post, I wasn't watching habs games religiously, so I will certainly take your word for it that Price was outplaying Huet at the time of the trade. But to me, that is no excuse for taking a 1st place team and saying "here you go Rookie, take the weight of the greatest team in NHL history's playoff hopes on your shoulders and run with it. No Pressure."
