I'm quite sure you drop a size from your shoe, but this is also dependent upon how your shoe company sizes their product. As in every case, trying them on is the only way to be certain. The skates need to be laced up as though you were going out for a skate, and you will need to give the heel a SOLID slam. When you're sitting down, you shouldn't feel the very front of the toecap, but when you stand flat footed, you should just barely graze the end. If you're borderline between a regular and a wide width, go with the narrower choice. A boot will always stretch out, but will never shrink in if you buy too wide.
