I liked him from the start. He can give you the "player" perspective on the game instead of the "coach" one most analysts (including Yvon) use.

Calling Saku by his name is a priviledge earned by playing with him. Have you noticed that Brisebois always talks about Carbonneau as "Carbo" ? Same thing. He played together with some of the current players and probably knows them personally.

My interpretation is that he is calling them by first name because he feels emotionally close to them. Deep down he would probably like to be on the ice with them instead of where he is.

What I disliked the most about Yvon on TV were his biased comments against specific targets (Huet being his favourite I guess). There was a tangible hostility towards some players that you don't get with BB. Maybe it's because he was a player not so long ago.

In the same line, I liked Joel Bouchard's comments at some point. The way he described the Islanders situation was hilarious.
