Ovechkin will not be shooting 6.7% all season. This much I can assure you. When I look to evaluate a goal scorer and how they are playing as relative to how they have played in the past, I look at the number of shots on goal as compared to previous years. Ovechkin has been putting the same amount of shots on net this season as he has in previous years but the puck hasn't been going in the net as much as he would like obviously. He still has 30 shots through 6 games for 5 shots per game. That is a 410 shot per season pace. For a career 13% shooter those numbers will net him a very healthy amount of goals provided he can continue to get that amount of shots on goal for the duration of the season.
