Those sweaters were the same sweaters they've worn for every other game this season.

It wasn't just 1970-71 that the Canadiens wore their whites at home. They wore their whites at home for a couple of decades.

They also had totally different numbers - and now white in the trim of the numbers - that year. It was obviously the exact same jerseys their wear every game and in no way looked like a "heritage jersey" or a retro sweater.

So can we stop pretending it was? I've seen a few people say on the telecast or at the game they said it was because the Canadiens wore their whites at home back then. But that's clearly not right. For some reason they didn't wear the sweaters that game that they were supposed to.
