I think Word is on to something. My first thought was that maybe DT doesn't want to tie up a contract right now (since there is a limit on how many guys can be under contract) and wants the flexibility to sign our restricted FAs and one or two UFAs. Then I would assume someone would be shipped out, and the Kings would purchase Kostopoulos' contract fro Manchester. I assume the contract is for the amount the Kings were offering as a 1-way deal. (more than a normal AHL contract)

But...I think Word's guess might be the true answer...
