Boston can't pick worth beans in the first round anyway
Without weighing in on the rest of this thread, this quote is somewhat inaccurate.
The Bruins' last 10 first round picks:
2003 - Mark Stuart (#21) - Too early to tell, although initial returns appear promising.
2002 - Hannu Toivonen (#29) - Perhaps the Bruins' top prospect, and arguably among the top goaltending prospects in the game.
2001 - Shaone Morrisonn (#19) - Appeared to be coming into his own before he was dealt for Sergei Gonchar.
2000 - Lars Jonsson (#7) - Too early to tell, although he's apparently made tremendous strides over the last year or so.
2000 - Martin Samuelsson (#27) - Has bounced between Boston and Providence. Appears to be a third-line player, at best.
1999 - Nick Boynton (#21) - One of the Bruins' two best defensemen, and arguably one of the top 20 defensemen in the league.
1997 - Joe Thornton (#1) - Arguably one of the top 10 players in the league.
1997 - Sergei Samsonov (#8) - One of the Bruins' three best forwards.
1996 - Johnathan Aitken (#8) - An unmitigated bust.
1995 - Kyle McLaren (#9) - Was a pretty good defensemen before he was traded.
Ten picks, and only one clear miss. That's a pretty good track record, I'd say.
