Deal was 1-year at league minimum. Can't get any cheaper than that. I am guessing, but I suspect that Trotter wants to go back to the system where he excelled in order to springboard to a better contract.

This is out of character for Reid, but it also is a sign of the times. It is put up or shut up time for Reid. He is in the last year of his contract. Signing Owens was out of character as well, it contradicts everything Reid had said about the WRs for the past 4 years.

JJs system was key to Trotter's success, but there is no denying that Trotter was an absolute beast in it. Warner was a product of the system as well, but he was still an offensive machine when it was working. Neither Simoneau nor Kirkland performed anywhere close to how Trotter did.

CB is still a huge concern. As it stands, Eagles look like one of the weakest teams in the league at CB. A good pass rush will help, but not having CBs that can handle man coverage severly limits blitzing. Making matters worse is that there are no quality FA CBs left on the market. Maybe they swing a trade for a disgruntal hold-out (McKenzie?) or some unexpected player is released after training camp. Otherwise, it is has-beens like McNeil, Smith or Carter.
