Assuming the top 3 forwards will be from Montreal, then it truly is useless to write Carter in. But as for being a reserve, there aren't many players in the East who have outplayed him, so even if they're mandated to take a guy from each team, I don't think Carter should/will be the guy who has to lose his spot to accommodate that. But, then again, it may indeed just come down to a numbers game. I don't know why I'm talking about this at length. It's just the F'ing all-star game.
