Another very strong period by the valiant warriors in red. They collapsed on the puck and denied chances. They blocked shots and had almost no defensive missteps. The Flames also clogged the neutral zone very effectively, which in turn created many many more offensive chances. The forecheck was also rock solid, and they continued with the great work along the boards to win those ever important battles.

The penalty kill, wait, what penalty kill? The Flames played with supreme discipline that period, incurring no infractions. Which is always the goal. Well, at least on of the more serious goals while playing. The Powerplay seems,..listless. They couldn't get set up, and the passing was just a hair out of step. There is good news to report. On a perfect back pass to Dion, and the subsequent blistering one timer, Langkow got his stick on it and deflected it in. So even though they played less well than desired, they did get the desired result.

Robyn Regher. The Sedin Killer. Last game he threw one on his tush. This game he's ground them into the boards, stopped them in their tracks, and generally been the ultimate wall against them. And thank all the hockey gods for that!! He also made a fantastic block on the shot that came from the Conroy giveaway. Yeah, I know Conny gives at least one solid scoring chance to the opposition, so here it was. No harm no foul. And Miikka was superb once again. He didn't have a lot of work, but when he was tested he was more than up for the challenge.
