With the current ownership's commitment to winning, a $45-50M payroll is not out of the question. However, only for the short term. While both Peca and Aucoin would be terrific additions, I doubt the Sens would want to commit to them long term. The proposed trade was more a stab at Milbury, who IMO has tarnished a once great organization.

More realistic would be additions near the trade deadline with players who would be UFAs at season's end. It's probably why the Sens have not signed Jason Weimer, who would bring needed grit but also a long term commitment of approx. 1.5-2M/year.

Unlike some GMs(ex. JFJr), Mucks will work with the league towards a fair CBA and will exercise fiscal resposibility in the off-season.
