Jones was sent to the Phantoms.
"Randy will play with the Phantoms tomorrow," general manager Paul Holmgren said today. "How long he stays, how many games he plays will depend on a few things, how guys play, injuries.

The Flyers finally placed center Danny Briere on long-term injury on Tuesday afternoon, as they prepare to get Randy Jones back in the lineup.

Jones is fully recovered from right hip surgery (torn labrum) while Briere is still being bothered by a groin injury.

The Flyers went into the morning with a cap number of $56.03 million, leaving them about $700,000 room. To add Jones, who earns $2.75 million, they had to make a roster move.

Briere earns $6.5 million. He was placed on LTI retroactive to Dec. 3 when he went out of the lineup. This clerical move cleared cap space as the Flyers’ cap number fell to about $52.3 million. Briere is eligible to return on Dec. 27.

“We’re going to play Randy Jones [Wednesday] with the Phantoms,” said general manager Paul Holmgren. The Phantoms host Binghamton.
