ANOTHER LOSS TO THE HUSKIES
... berth in final is unlikely

December 28, 2008

MANITOBA BISONS 6
SASKATCHEWAN HUSKIES 7

[GAME SUMMARY] <> [GAME SHEET] <> [U OF L STORY]

The summary links show the final score as 7-3 for the Huskies. However, the story shows that the Bisons mounted a wild 3rd period comeback to within a goal before losing 7-6. The Bisons led 2-1 after the 1st period but then surrendered 6 goals in the 2nd period. The 3rd period summary is a mystery.

Combined with the result of the evening game, the Bisons must defeat Laurier, hope Sask loses in regulation time to Lakehead, and then win the plus-minus tie-breaker.

Manitoba's goal scorers were Greg Beller, Jared Walker, Calin Wild, Mark Olafson, Riley Dudar, and Nick Hotson.

It would appear that Ben Lobb saw his first action of the season in goal (shared with Steve Christie) and that Gavin McHale was not dressed. Myles Rumsey and KIp Workman did not dress on defence. The forwards sitting out were Terrance Delaronde, Nolan Waker, and Tyler Ditmer.

Lakehead now has two extra time victories in two matches. They are assured of a berth in the final. I suspect they may take it easy against Sask, but I hope not!
