The strength of our team is not that we have one or two consistently dominant players, but that we have many players who can make a difference offensively on any given night. What this means is that while someone like Kovalev won't win the game on his own too often, we have other players that can such as A. Kost (3 pts vs. Leafs), Lang (3 goals vs. Rangers), Koivu, Tanguay, etc. Heck, we even have guys like Higgins and Lapierre who have come up with hat tricks this year.

The idea behind offensive depth is not that all 8-10 of our offensive players will score bunches every night, but that hopefully at least 2-3 of them will show up on the scoreboard each game. Meanwhile, many weaker teams in this league only have 2-3 guys on the roster they can depend on to score, so if those guys have off nights, there is no one to pick up the slack.
