How exactly do they have little depth at forward or defense? They probably have more NHL-caliber forwards than any team in the league, and have a solid if unspectacular top-6 defense. Goaltending is a concern without a top-shelf guy between the pipes, but to say they have no managerial philosophy seems ridiculous. The only hole from last season they haven't addressed is goaltending, and thats not a matter of philosophy, as they've committed to Boucher and Johnson. This signing is solid. It gives some experience to a young team, and some offense to an offensively anemic one.
