Well, I wear a size 12 4E shoe. I wear a size 9 skate, D Width. It's just what I'm used to.. I'm used to it being smaller. It's more comfortable for me to be wearing something that hurts at first before I get used to it.
You should be fine with whatever you buy. A skate is a skate.. the width is going to make a difference in comfort, but as with shoes, the difference between a D and an E isn't all that much. When you get into 2E and 3E, even 4E, that's when you notice the changes.
If you wear a 2E width, get a 2E skate. If when you buy shoes you don't have to ask for a 'wider width', then just get a D, as D is the standard width for 99% of male footwear.
