The Peca trade is simply more evidence that GM's do value defense.

Obviously I couldn't say for sure, but I'd be willing to bet that if you polled GM's and asked them which player [Jackman or Hunter] they'd rather acquire assuming they were giving up the same package that most would take Jackman.

Inronically, the Blues would probably be one of the few teams that would take Hunter because their defense is strong while the forwards are weak this year.
