May did a lot more than comment about Steve Moore. If, as you suggest, he is criticizing Carbonneau for hiding behind tough guys, and not answering the bell/doing the dirty work himself, you have to understand his role in the Bertuzzi attack.
After the game, Canucks forward Todd Bertuzzi called the officiating a joke, while teammate Brad May indicated a bounty had been placed on the 25-year-old Moore, a rookie NHLer.
May's career has been full of questionable incidents. Playing for Vancouver in 2004, he was the player who put the "bounty" on the head of Colorado's Steve Moore that resulted in then- Canucks forward Todd Bertuzzi ending Moore's career in the next game.
I'm just glad that I'm not Dominic Moore, having to look a guy like Brad May in the eyes after every game, knowing what he did.
To be fair, though, May has never played the game dirty.
"Just suckering a guy that I don't think has had a fight in his NHL career shows that a guy like Brad May has no respect so he deserves no respect from anybody, and that's how he's going to get treated."
