Yeah, that is my understanding. Arbitration can only be done on a one or two year basis with both parties making an election 48 hours before the hearing. So he won't be getting any more than that. Most GMs have a tendency to go for one year because they don't want to be blown out of the water if there is a surprising finding and be on hook for two years, easier to take one and get down to negotiating a long term deal.

I'd say Kipper is worth no more than $2.75 mil because he hasn't shown much other than last season, his first as a starter. I'm sure the Flames will be ramming that point home, he shouldn't get a massive award based on one great year .....
