My personal take. It's the last one.
It's a benchmark game because we've been playing awfully lately. This is a game that, on paper, we SHOULD win easily. So it's an important game in that if we lose, it becomes clear that we're in a tailspin and if we win, at least we know we haven't hit rock bottom yet (which a lot of us are wondering).

Rangers have tons of RAW talent in Gomez, Drury, Callahan, Dubinsky, Staal, Redden, Korpikoski, Prucha, and Dawes. The question is, can these guys find their game and be able to work together? So far this season, the answer is no. Hopefully a good rivalry game will wake them up.
