I think $3,000,000 for a single year is likely. It's true that he has a short experience but tat experience carried the Flames during part of the season and then he and the Flames had great success in the playoffs.

They need him. He works. They've done great with him.

Considering what other goalies have been getting in the recent, this is fair for all parties. No holdout means less risks that he will pull a Jiggy/Theo/Nabokov stunt and sulk like the typical NHL baby-goalie after tough negociations.

For the Flames, they probably get a guy who would be a bargain OR he may have been a one-year wonder but he can't get that bad. Even if he does, it's not that much money to invest in a #1. They shop for another one during or after next season.

I'm sure Sutter will find a way to get a great deal. I really like what he is doing over there. If he gets Kipper for less than 3M, hats off to him!
