Is there any truth to this? (Weekes signs with Rangers?)

I agree completely with bleedgreen. Weekes is a much better goalie than Doneham. Weekes is an established number one goalie who can play a lot of games and isn't injury prone.
For all the critics who think this would be a wasted signing, if you can add a solid goalie like Weekes for between $2.5 and 3 million, you do it.
And then cut Dunham loose and save money. There's no way they'd retain both of them. That wouldn't make any sense at all.
They could still make Labarbera the backup.
And remember this. Weekes would be a stopgap goalie until:
A.Blackburn proves he's ready after some seasoning in Hartford
B.Montoya is ready in a couple of years.
C.Lundqvist finishes another year in Europe and then comes over to Hartford.
So, why is this a bad move if it's true? As long as they cut Dunham loose, it's a no-brainer.
Now, look at these numbers on pathetic Carolina:
20 80 KEVIN WEEKES 66 3765 2.33 23 30 11 5 6 146 1652 .912
Maybe if he had gotten more offensive support, the Canes might have been a playoff team.
