As a Montreal Canadien, Alex Kovalev is a .82 PPG player. That isn't a star player to me. I don't think Saku Koivu is a star either. I think a star puts up consistently a PPG pace. Then you get into Superstars like Ovechkin, Crosby, Malkin.

He has had 1 big year, 1 brutal year, and 1 good year, and this year, well we will say average.

Its one thing to love the guy, however its another to fail to see reality in perspective to the entire NHL. He may be a "star" in Montreal but thats because we haven't seen a legit scoring star since Mark Recchi was in his prime.

Kovalev has star talent and simply a good player's not a stars production.
