once you get over the hollow feeling, you will enjoy the quick release. as stated above try starting with a shaft and wood blade. the worse part for us older guys is getting use to the fact that the blade pattern you choose is what your stuck with for the life of the stick. no heating them up with a torch to change the curve or face angle.
