This deal just doesnt make any sense for the Hawks, Hamrlik is a great dman, but an overpaid one who probably wouldnt be in Chicago too long if he went there. Next year is going to be another rebuilding year and the playoffs are still not expected. Maybe in 3 years when the Hawks can be considered contenders, a guy like Hamrlik would make sense. So basically we would bring in an overpaid dman for one year and give up a top D prospect with Kvasha and Daze being a wash almost. Plus with Tallon calling some of the shots, I wouldnt expect a soft guy like Kvasha being welcomed in Chicago.

If the Islanders are looking to unload Hamrlik, they are just going to have to accept less than he is worth, thats how it works in the NHL. Besides, with Mad Mike making the call, dont be surprised if he takes the first 2nd rounder he gets offered

Basically Id take my chances on a guy who could become a top 4 dman and help this team for a decade over a guy who would be here a year to help us squeek into the 8th spot.
