Kalinin under new system- Yet to be seen, but so far so good.
Kalinin is best suited to contribute to a team offensively in a system where the defensemen are expect to contribute. Under Renney's system any offense from the point was a bonus. Under Tortorella's system any offense from the point is essential. There are reason's there are players who are horrible for one team go to another and suddenly start doing well. There are many different tactical systems that suit different players. Kalinin's role on the team under Tortorella is blatantly different than that under Renney. Kalinin simply is not a solid defensive player that can fit into a defensive system. He's completely exposed when that happens. Under Tortorella is a completely different story. He's a quick skater with a decent shot, and that is what is necessary to contribute under Tortorella.
