Timonen and Gonchar are really the only competition for best dman in the Atlantic. I'll take Martin, though. He's elite defensively (rated one of the 10 best defensive defensemen in the league recently by THN) and is the key to the Devils' transition game (when he's been injured this year, they can't get out of their own zone). He isn't as good offensively as either guy (though he's the #1 option on the Devil's PP), but I'll take his overall game.
