Never said he hasn't played well. He's played great. He's lacked some consistency, but nothing serious. Backstrom is a fantastic goaltender. The fallacy of the team's system making him what he is might be tainting things. The team has to play the guy who gives them the best chance at winning; there's no obligation to a young goaltender that's going to trump that. Harding's a young RFA. He doesn't have much pull in what happens. I expect he'll be moved, but throwing a hissy fit and demanding a trade doesn't match his character, and it will probably do him better in the long run to play it cool. If a trade doesn't happen he can always have his agent play hardball on the next contract.
