The problem with trading Witt is he doesn't fill a Flyers need.
The Caps need to rebuild and hold onto their youth, I understand that. But for the Flyers to take him, they'd really need to have the Caps take a Dman back. Markov, Johnsson, Pitkanen are going no where. Seidenberg won't be traded in a package for someone like Witt because again, Witt doesn't fill a real need.
So the only thing that would make sene for the Flyers would be to trade Rags for Witt, but Rags > Witt so the Flyers would need someone else back as well.
Overall though, the idea of sending Witt to the Flyers just doesn't seem realistic.
Yeah, but this deal is in no way shape or form anywhere close to fair. Witt is, by far, the most valuable player in this deal. So, why in the world would the CAPS move him for that return AND throw in a prospect.
BTW, as deep as the Flyers might be on defense, I'm sure they'd love to have a guy like Witt. Witt is inconsistent, but he is would be a good 2nd or 3rd pairing dman on any team in the league.
