Coaches in professional sports teams are almost always on the hot seat. It's really not that much a surprise. The german national soccer league also is quite a cannon firing coaches left and right.

Examples like Ruff or Trotz are quite the exception I'd say. In germany there is a soccer coach named Thomas Schaaf who has coached his club, Werder Bremen for 10 years now and spent almost the entire rest of his career prior to that in that organization, among that also coaching their amateur club for 4 years before becoming the head coach of their professional team. In german soccer that is almost impossible.
